Creating a theatrical escape

Identity, creative direction, & design for remote theater collective

The Covid–19 pandemic set the performing arts community adrift, from the countless theater artists left unemployed and without a way to practice their craft, to the theater–going community who miss engaging with new works — theater is a hole felt keenly by many. The Anti–Isolation Arts Factory is platform and community for performers to write, produce and share new works with a membership–based audience.

In the creative direction for the brand, I sought to create an escape for our viewers from the bleak reality we’re currently living in during the pandemic. Since we cannot offer the traditional experience of going out to the theater, we’re trying to build a new one, in which patrons can immerse themselves in the themes of our pieces from the safety of their own homes. Bold, luscious colors engage and energize the senses. Fantastical illustrations provide a storybook-like gateway into our monthly themes. We’re picking up the pieces of the theater and putting them together to challenge, engage, and create in a whole new way.
